England beat France 6–4 to claim World Cup bronze for the first time. Thomas Tuchel’s side built a four-goal first-half lead but almost surrendered it after the interval.

The first half ended 0–4. Declan Rice scored in the third minute, Ezri Konsa in the 18th, and Bukayo Saka in the 37th and at 45+1. France responded after the break through Kylian Mbappé in the 48th and 66th minutes and Bradley Barcola in the 54th.

Malo Gusto fouled Djed Spence in the penalty area in the 87th minute. Saka converted the penalty to complete his hat-trick and make it 3–5. Ousmane Dembélé narrowed the gap at 90+6, before Jude Bellingham scored at 90+8 to seal the 4–6 result.

After the match, Mbappé leads the 2026 World Cup scoring chart with ten goals. Bellingham has seven and Dembélé six. Penalty shoot-out kicks do not count towards these totals.
